Josh and Austin from the Hounder team were so excited to attend their first European DrupalCon event in the beautiful city of Barcelona. After getting back home, we had to share some of the highlights from this unforgettable trip.

DrupalCon Europe is an international event gathering the global Drupal community to share insights, learn about the latest developments, and contribute to the growth of the platform. It offers engaging keynote sessions, expert-led workshops, and numerous networking opportunities. This time around we got the opportunity to engage and collaborate with other developers, business leaders, and enthusiasts while enjoying the vibrant city of Barcelona.
If you joined us at DrupalCon Barcelona, you probably remember us as the guys who supplied the coffee. Our developer and coffee connoisseur, Austin Amento brewed up some delicious drinks and chatted with a bunch of individuals about digital web experiences. Of course, we couldn’t attend without showing up with some exclusive Barcelona-themed Hounder swag.
Not only did we have our own booth, but we were able to host a lunch symposium on the main stage! We shared some interesting insights on Single Directory Components and how to utilize them in Drupal 11 — it was a huge hit! Check out the whole talk below.
Austin was also able to host his own talk where he shared his take on AI and Accessibility for web development. This included a live demonstration of a module he built to streamline ALT text generation for an airport client.
Hear some of his talk by watching the video below!
Between the fun we were having at DrupalCon, we had to indulge in some sightseeing and tasty food. From breathtaking views and architecture to being able to sit front and center to experience a soccer game, we truly soaked in the local culture. The vibrant atmosphere and the unforgettable moments added to the excitement of the entire trip. Between sessions and networking, Barcelona gave us the perfect balance of work and play.
DrupalCon Barcelona was a fantastic experience — and we’re not stopping there! There are plenty of other events we’ll be attending and hosting throughout the remainder of this year and going into 2025. We’ve even started our own meetup series called RadiCali. Sponsored by Hounder and Acquia, RadiCali is a place where you can network with many different technical professionals in the Southern California area. The first event is happening soon on October 10th and we’re looking forward to hosting more in the future!
