OSI's Strategic Drupal Site

Drupal site build and web support for a top-notch team of ERP integrators

Who is OSI?

Open Source Integrators (OSI) is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software integrator and implementor, specializing specifically in Odoo ERP software. Their multifaceted and time-tested approach to ERP has made them one of the most knowledgeable and trustworthy integration professionals in the game.

The challenge

OSI purchased the domain usaodoo.com in order to better resonate with their market and gain greater visibility in the ERP space. But, with this decision came a huge challenge: How do they achieve balanced and cohesive storytelling when migrating content from OSI's home site to the new and improved USAOdoo site? . . . The solution? We'll give you a hint: Drupal made it possible.

The solution

Building a new site for the USAOdoo domain was a highly strategic marketing initiative. Though beneficial for several reason, one stands out above the rest. The term USAOdoo carries significant interest in terms of web traffic, and was choses as the name of their new sister site to bring OSI a newfound level of attention. By creating a new site specifically dedicated to this term, OSI was able to effectively introduce potential customers to their services and demonstrate their expertise in the field.

Implementing sophistication and ease

A key benefit of building the USAOdoo site on Drupal was the utilization of a more sophisticated and user-friendly content management system (CMS). OSI's home site is hosted on ExpressionEngine, which presents various usability drawbacks. By building USAOdoo with Drupal, content authors and administrators gained access to a streamlined method of creating and posting content, resulting in improved efficiency and productivity.

Supporting open source values

OSI's decision to opt for Drupal highlights their commitment to open source solutions. As an open source company themselves, OSI understands the value and benefits that come from leveraging open source technologies. By choosing Drupal as their CMS, OSI effectively puts their money where their mouth is, demonstrating their dedication to the open source community. The strong open source community behind Drupal provides OSI with ongoing support, innovation, and the opportunity to contribute back to the community, further reinforcing their commitment to open source principles.

Building the Drupal template

A breath of fresh air compared to OSI's expression engine site, the USAOdoo Drupal template was built with simplicity in mind, while poising all site components and page layouts for unlimited growth.

  • 20+ pages

  • 10+ component types

  • Page layouts: Campaign landing page, page, publication, webform.

  • Development documentation

Content assessment and migration

Migrating content between OSI's ExpressionEngine site and the new USAOdoo Drupal site involved a systematic process to ensure a smooth transition while identifying the appropriate content for each platform.

First and foremost, we performed a thorough assessment of the existing content on the Expression Engine site. This involved identifying the types of content, such as articles, blog posts, product pages, and any other relevant information, as it was crucial for us understand the structure and categorization of the content to determine its relevance to USAOdoo.

As for the rest of the migration, it ran like clockwork:

  1. Content mapping

  2. Content extraction

  3. Content reformatting and optimization

  4. Quality assurance

  5. Redirect matrix

Training and ongoing web support

If we build you a new tool, you can bet we're not going to leave you alone until you know how to use it - and, even then, we might not. We approach site training and web support services like a family. These are critical aspects of any successful project, and we settled for nothing less while building OSI's USAOdoo Drupal site.

Scope: Web support

  1. Regular maintenance and updates: Regular website maintenance tasks ensure the smooth functioning and security. This includes applying CMS updates, plugin/extensions updates, and security patches to keep the website up to date and protected against potential vulnerabilities.

  2. Bug fixes and issue resolution: We address any bugs reported by OSI or identified during routine maintenance. This involves investigating the problem, diagnosing the root cause, and implementing appropriate fixes or solutions to resolve the issues promptly.

  3. Content updates and website enhancements: Includes adding new pages, blog posts, or product listings. They may also help with implementing design changes, adding new features, or integrating third-party services based on OSI's requests. These enhancements ensure that the website remains relevant, engaging, and aligned with OSI's evolving business needs.

  4. Performance optimization: Focus on improving loading speed, user experience, and search engine rankings. We conduct performance audits, implement caching mechanisms, optimize images and code, and address any identified bottlenecks that impact website performance.

  5. Reporting and communication (Bi-weekly meetings): We keep OSI's leadership teams informed about completed tasks, ongoing maintenance activities, and any notable insights or recommendations. Through bi-weekly meetings, we communicate any upcoming updates or changes that may impact the website's functionality.

  6. Continuous monitoring and security: Employ monitoring tools and security measures to proactively identify and address any security threats or performance issues.

The result

Even after the initial USAOdoo Drupal build, we continue to work with OSI conducting web support and marketing initiatives. Maintaining this relationship has shown us one thing: Whether you're implementing Drupal, WordPress, or whatever CMS, the people you're working with play the biggest part in a successful project.

Training our customers to use digital products like Drupal effectively (and providing the support that powers this effectiveness) are vital components of our commitment to customer success. By empowering clients such as OSI with prime technologies and continuous assistance, we enable them to manage their websites efficiently, achieve cost savings, and stay up to date with the latest trends in their respective industries.

We're proud to announce OSI's USAOdoo project reflected this to a tee. At the end of the day, supporting our customers throughout their Drupal journey and helping them achieve their online objectives is all we can ask for.
