What we cover

Our dev team just caught an all-star (who also happens to know a lot about pizza)

Once considered the finest shortstop prospect with the last name of Chadwick in the 04038 ZIP code under age 12, I grew up playing and loving sports. My true passion came to light when I found the MS-DOS version of PGA Tour Golf on my mother’s old computer, and I’ve been chasing birdies ever since. Golf has taken me all over the country, from playing at the collegiate level in Pennsylvania to caddying at pro courses such as TPC Boston and TPC Scottsdale.

Outside of sports, I love to cook (wood fired pizza is my specialty) and am relentlessly in pursuit of the perfect meal. Here's a great read for any pork/ham/bacon lovers out there.

Graduated from The University of Southern Maine in 2015 with a degree in Marketing. Most recently worked as a Lead Drupal Developer for Acquia's Professional Services team building all sorts of interesting and exciting applications. My mother is a (now-retired) medical transcriptionist (I wish WPM count was inherited genetically), and my father was a minister at Stroudwater Christian Church. I live in Casco, ME with my 10lb Maltipom named Carl who pays 0% of the bills, and I have accepted that.

Q&A

Favorite action figure growing up?

Stretch Armstrong. Not really for its contribution to playtime activities...but more so being captivated by the substance inside of it.

What would you name your boat if you had one?

Considering my Github username is dan612, probably something generic like Dan's Boat 1.0. Or whatever registration number they assign...ME8675309.

What fictional place would you like to visit?

Springfield. Start my day off with a quick 18 with Mr. Burns. Then I'd go make sure Millhouse had someone to play with on the playground, then swing by Moe's for a beer with Homer, Barney and the gang.

Coffee or tea? Milk in first or last?

Both! Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon. Coffee should be consumed with zero (0) additions...anything else is a milkshake. Nothing in tea either except some honey.

What's the most useless talent you have?

I worked in the pro shop of a golf course for 4 summers and as a result I can juggle a golf ball on a wedge, pretty much indefinitely.

What is the dumbest way you’ve been injured?

I fractured some orbital bones and broke my nose once shoveling snow. I went to throw a big shovel full over a railing and slipped on the way, falling forward into the railing. Worth mentioning I also drove myself to the ER after this...

What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it?

A few books I have read recently:

  1. The Bug by Ellen Ullman. Thrilling book, I couldn't put it down. However, it has some darker tones/themes so be warned if you decide to dive in.

  2. The Pragmatic Programmer by David Thomas and Andrew Hunt. Highly Recommend! Code agnostic and provides great guidance & advice.

  3. Inferno by Dan Brown. These books have always intrigued me, mainly for the symbolism and historic tie ins. I enjoy the movies as well! If Tom Hanks approves...so do I.

A few movies I have watched recently:

  1. Oppenheimer - Meh. Feel like every Christopher Nolan film is the same since Inception...was OK but not my favorite.

  2. Ex Machina - Surprised I had not watched this sooner. I enjoyed Devs (show also by Alex Garland) and so I should have watched this a long time ago. Would recommend...unless you are scared of AI (think Terminator).

  3. Battle Royale - I had seen The Hunger Games...but this Japanese film (which was released prior to The Hunger Games) blows it out of the water.

Gas station food or school cafeteria?

I was a cold lunch kid so I can't speak to school cafeteria food, and I would avoid gas station food at all costs. Unless we are talking about a big bag of Oh Boy! Oberto and a tall Arnold Palmer.
